ASB HOST TO THE INTERNATIONAL BANKING COUNCIL (IBC)


On 17-19 May 2017 the Association of Serbian Banks hosted the regular Meeting of the International Coordinating Council of Banking Associations in the CIS Countries, Central and Eastern Europe (International Banking Council – IBC), whose member the ASB has been since 2006. The central topic of the Meeting referred to the growing role of the national banking associations in the financial education and literacy programs. Moreover, the heads of the IBC member banking associations presented the recent economic trends in their respective countries, along with the results and prospects for the banking business development. Dr Veroljub Dugalić, ASB Secretary General, presented the activities of the Association of Serbian Banks in the field of financial education and underlined that, after the European Money Week, the relevant financial educationl activities would be implemented continuously throughout the year and onwards.

The Meeting was opened by Dr Dušan Vujović, Minister of Finance in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, who in his introductory address informed the guests about the activities of the Government of Serbia and the achieved results in the field of fiscal and financial policy.

IBC Meeting

The IBC members also had a chance to get familiar with the work of the National Bank of Serbia. The NBS representatives particularly focused on the NBS activities concerning the financial education of financial services consumers, and the pertinent regulatory framework. On behalf of Dr Jorgovanka Tabaković, Governor of the NBS, the NBS delegation was led by Radica Dimitrijević, Head of the NBS Center for the Protection and Education of Financial Services Consumers.

The next Meeting of the International Banking Council is to be held in the autumn in Azerbaijan.
