On 8-9 March 2018 the Association of Serbian Banks organized the traditional Symposium of lawyers in Serbian banks, held at the Palić Lake under the title: “Status of Banks and Legal Protection”.

This year’s Symposium had the aim of informing the participants about topics from the current banking practice, through the following presentations of selected speakers:

  • “Status Challenges, Mergers and the Approval of the National Bank of Serbia”, and “Transfer of Rights and Obligations from the Agreements Signed with the Clients in the Process of Bank Mergers” – The National Bank of Serbia;
  • “Presentation of the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism” – Nedeljko Velisavljević and Nenad Kovačević, Petrikić & Partneri AOD in cooperation with CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz;
  • “Arbitration Procedure for the Protection of Investor Rights under the Investment Protection Agreement” – Werner Mörth, Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI) and Franz Schwarz, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP;
  • “Positive Civil Law Regulations and Different Trends in the European and Domestic Justice Systems” – Prof. Dr Miloš Živković, Faculty of Law, Belgrade University;
  • “Amendments to the Law on Bankruptcy and Banks as Creditors” – Prof. Dr Vladimir Kozar, Associate Professor at the Law Faculty for Economy and Justice at the Business Academy University in Novi Sad and Special Advisor at the Joint Law Office Aleksić with Associates;
  • “Risk Participation Agreement – Collateral or Derivative, Implementation of the Law on Foreign Exchange Operations” – Maja Jovančević-Šetka, Law Office Karanović & Nikolić;
  • “Experiences, Challenges and Perspective in the Implementation of the Law on Electronic Documents, Electronic Identification and Trust Services in Electronic Commerce” – Natalija Radoja, Head of Department for Regulation, Analysis, and Planning in the Field of Information Society and Information Security, Ministry of Trade, Telecommunications and Tourism.
The Symposium was attended by over 60 participants and fostered the intensive, interactive discussions concerning all above-listed topics.
