The Team from Serbia is Among the Top Five Best Teams in Europe at the European Money Quiz

The Association of Serbian Banks, through the national coordinator of the European Money Quiz for Serbia, has been implementing this European project for five years, together with national banking associations across Europe, the European Banking Federation in Brussels, and with the support of the Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.

 

The European Money Quiz is the largest European competition in financial literacy for students aged 13 to 15, created in 2018 by 30 national associations of European banks and the European Banking Federation in Brussels. In April 2022, as in 28 other countries, the national round of the European Money Quiz (EMQ) was held in Serbia. We send our congratulations to all participants at the national level of the competition in Serbia, and especially to the winners of the first three places - Pavle Ignjatović VII/1, Elementary School “Stevan Dukić” from Belgrade, Andrej Zorić VIII/3, Elementary School “Slavko Rodić” from Bački Jarak, and Vladimir Vučićević VIII/2, Elementary School “Karađorđe” from Belgrade! On May 10, in the premises of the ASB, the three top-ranked students and their mentors were awarded appropriate cash prizes by the ASB for their achievements. On behalf of the ASB, the prize vouchers were given to the students by Sladjana Sredojević, ASB Specialist and National Coordinator of the European Money Quiz for Serbia.

 

On the same day, May 10, 2022, Pavle and Andrej represented the team from Serbia at the online European Finals, where 29 countries competed in the Quiz organised by the EBF. Students answered 20 questions on financial skills in line with OECD/INFE guidelines and key competences on financial literacy for young people, including online fraud, sustainability, budgeting, risks, cryptocurrencies. The first three winning teams at the European level will receive a cash prize from the EBF, and the first five teams will be invited by the EBF for a two-day trip to Brussels on June 20th and 21st. This year, 50,000 students played across Europe through two levels of competition, and players from Norway, Italy, Ireland, Serbia, and Malta won the first five places in the European finals!

 

Congratulations to all students, teachers, colleagues from Serbia, Europe and the EBF - who supported the initiative, and especially to the winning teams from Norway, Italy, Ireland, Serbia, and Malta! Special congratulations go to Pavle and Andrej, as representatives of the Serbian team, for their commitment, interest in the world of finance and the achieved success - placing Serbia among the top five countries in Europe!

 

We believe that with this achieved success and visibility of the project, we received another form of confirmation that we are on the right path, and we will continue our efforts and beliefs for continuous creation and development of modern banking for the benefit of banks and society as a whole! Our long-term commitment and strong belief in the importance of engaging in education in the banking sector are what launched this extraordinary initiative that garners the attention of so many students and teachers, for the general benefit of the banking sector and society! With the help of international cooperation as an important business segment with strong potential, this project in the best possible way to further promote the positive image and reputation of the domestic banking sector, the ASB, and Serbia throughout Europe and the world!
