The Association of Serbian Banks hosted the 57th meeting of the associated members of the European Banking Federation, which was held on 25-26 September 2023, in the premises of the Association of Serbian Banks in Belgrade.
The Secretary General of the Association of Serbian Banks, Marina Papadakis, welcomed the attendees, and the meeting was led by the President of the Executive Committee of the European Banking Federation, Eelco Dubbeling.
The meeting included presenting the activities of the European Banking Federation, the latest developments at the EU level, and the experiences and challenges faced by the banking sector in the participating member countries. An introductory lecture was also held by the high representative of the National Bank of Serbia, Darko Stamenković. The meeting was attended by representatives of the national bank associations of the countries from the region, as well as a certain number of European Union countries.
The Association of Serbian Banks has been an associate member of the European Banking Federation since 2008, contributing to various initiatives and European projects. The Association of Serbian Banks has so far hosted the meeting of the European Banking Federation in 2011 and 2017.
The European Banking Federation brings together 33 national bank associations, which represent 3,500 banks across Europe and about 2.7 million employees in the banking sector. It was founded in the late 1960s with the aim of representing and promoting the voice of the industry - the banking sector of Europe.
