Increasing Role of Financial Crime Compliance in International Trade

Category: News 11 February 2025

The Association of Serbian Banks had the honour to organise a two-day workshop "Increasing Role of Financial Crime Compliance in International Trade" in cooperation with the EBRD Trade Facilitation Program (TFP) and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The workshop was a great opportunity for the Serbian banking sector to hear key information regarding adequate ways of dealing with financial crime and international sanctions.

The workshop sessions were highly interactive, providing essential information on:

• Risks and challenges regarding international sanctions in international trade

• The regulatory framework, the method of implementation, the latest changes in sanctions, as well as practical examples

• Needs in terms of bank management for adequate compliance control for managing this risk

• National risk assessment of the Republic of Serbia

• The EBRD Trade Support Program and EBRD Compliance Approach

• Use of machine learning…

We extend our gratitude to everyone who took part and contributed to make this event a success! Special thanks go to Martial N. Smets, Director at Argos and an EBRD Consultant, for this extremely interesting workshop with plenty of case studies, practical insights and recent trends.
