The Financial Sector of Serbia is Secure, Liquid and Well Capitalised

Category: Press Release 31 October 2026

The high level of capital and liquid assets, together with the developed regulatory framework and continuous supervisory activities of the National Bank of Serbia, form a solid foundation for the resilience of the domestic financial sector and its smooth functioning.

The decision of the National Bank of Serbia to revoke a bank’s license to operate was made within the scope of its jurisdiction prescribed by law, with the aim of protecting clients and preserving confidence in the financial system of the Republic of Serbia. This is an individual case that does not affect the operations of other banks in Serbia, which perform their operations in a regular and stable manner, and without any restrictions.

Clients can be confident that the financial system continues to function smoothly, with all available protection mechanisms. In accordance with current regulations, client funds are insured up to the amount of 50,000 euros in dinar equivalents through the deposit insurance system, while additional information about depositors’ rights and how to obtain protection is available through the official channels of the National Bank of Serbia and the Deposit Insurance Agency.

The Board of Directors of the Association of Serbian Banks invites citizens and the media to follow information on this topic through official and relevant sources.

The ASB will maintain its contribution to transparently informing the public, and the exchange of relevant knowledge among its members, with the aim of preserving trust and the smooth functioning of the financial market.
