Compliance in Banks Week

Category: Activities 23 September 2020

The Association of Serbian Banks continues with the mission of providing professional assistance to banks concerning the interpretation and implementation of laws, bylaws and international standards relevant to the field of compliance. This year, we are adapting to new circumstances and we are pleased to invite you to the Compliance in Banks Week, which will be held online, with daily sessions from 28 September to 2 October 2020. This year's event, which is traditionally organised by the ASB for the 15th time, will have eminent lecturers and current topics, and our colleague Sanja Tomić, a Special Advisor for Compliance and Foreign Operations, will be the moderator.

This time, we will examine the metrics and the methodological aspect of business compliance risk assessment, how to create a customer base with the help of sturdy compliance, and what our experiences with online onboarding are. We will also cover the typologies and case studies of money laundering in the years ahead, and we will share with the participants an impartial view of the implementation of the current provisions of the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering. We will talk about how we went in the first year of implementation of the new Personal Data Protection Act and try to answer the question of whether Big Data and GDPR can work together. We will also deal with what awaits us regarding the FATCA agreement, as well as the next steps in its implementation.

The webinar will be held on the Zoom platform. Participation is free. The session in the English language, under the title Building Customer Base with Bullet Proof Compliance will be held on Wednesday, 30.9.2020, at 11:00-12:30.

Presentation - “Building a Customer Base with Bullet Proof Compliance”
These days, with various sanctions imposed on countries, corporates or individuals change with unprecedented pace and the larger the customer portfolio, the more difficult it is to follow these changes in real time. Corporate fraudsters have become smarter and more difficult to unveil until they make newspaper headlines. Public opinion can influence our willingness to do business with certain industries, sectors or corporate owners in certain regions or countries. All this and much more can shape the existence and future of our business. Costs are increasing. Is there a benefit in doing all this? Yes. Contrary to general thinking, performing strong and cost-effective compliance can go hand in hand with building new business opportunities, whilst protecting our companies. How can we use the ever-increasing complexity and pace of regulatory changes worldwide to our benefit?
